Sentenced to Death

A Russian and a Jew were sentenced to death. The prison governor granted each of them a final wish.

'What is yours?' he asks the Russian.

'I want to make confession.'

'Very well,' says the governor. 'A priest will be brought.'

He turns to the Jew. 'And what is yours?'

'Before I die I want to eat a bowl of strawberries and cream.'

The prison governor is astonished. 'Where will I find strawberries in Siberia in winter?'

'There's no hurry, Comrade Governor. I can wait.'
