Boring Train Journey

A Russian, a Ukrainian and a Jew were travelling on a train. It was a long and boring journey.

'Let's have a game of cards,' says the Russian.

'But we haven't got any cards,' says the Ukrainian.

'Never mind,' says the Russian. 'Instead of cards we'll put out food.

For example, a lump of lard can be the Queen of Hearts, half a litre of vodka the King of Clubs and so on.'

They began playing.

'Queen of Hearts,' declares the Ukrainian putting a lump of lard down on the table.

'King of Clubs,' says the Russian putting out a half litre.

'Nothing is trumps,' says the Jew, putting down nothing and collecting up the lard and the vodka.
